Wells (7 minutes)…

Wells Cathedral

is England's smallest cathedral city and has a quaint yet friendly atmosphere, with many individual shops and bistros. Visit the 12th century cathedral "a prayer in stone and glass" and the moated Bishop’s Palace and gardens next-door. The lively farmers market is twice a week. See Wells Tourist Information.

Cheddar (10 minutes)…

is a large village at the bottom of a steep limestone gorge, cleaved by water and time, which winds up to the top of the Mendips, There are show caves, bus tours through the gorge and other attractions for visitors, see www.cheddargorge.co.uk
